Two midcoast women arrested in ecstasy bust

CAMDEN, Maine — Two women were arrested Wednesday night, Feb. 15, and charged with trafficking in powdered ecstasy.

Dana Rader, 20, of Camden and Eleanor Brugger, 25, of Freedom were charged after a traffic stop in Camden led to a search of the vehicle and the discovery of 101 grams of the drug, according to Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Supervisor James Pease.

The two women had been under investigation by the MDEA and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for a couple of months for bringing ecstasy into the Camden-Rockland area and selling it, Pease said. The women had been under surveillance Wednesday night when the MDEA asked Camden and Rockport police to stop the vehicle.

Brugger and Rader were both charged with Class B trafficking in ecstasy, which is punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a $20,000 fine.

Rader also was charged with violating a condition of release. She had been free on bail after an arrest in January by Rockport police for possession of ecstasy and theft.

Rader remained at the Knox County Jail in Rockland as of Thursday afternoon. Brugger was released on bail.
