KENDUSKEAG – Francis S. Harvey, husband of Shirley (Bragan) Harvey, passed away Feb. 14, 2012. He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Bangor, son of F. Ernest and Janetta (Stewart) Harvey.

Francis graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He was a registered professional engineer and a registered land surveyor. Francis worked for Eastern Fine Pulp and Paper Standard Packaging, Brewer, for 16 years and later was assistant director of facilities for the University of Maine System, Bangor, for 23 years. He was a 50-year member, past master and secretary from 1967 to 2012 of Kenduskeag Lodge No. 137 AF & AM, Kenduskeag. Francis was a past district deputy and a past senior grand warden of Grand Lodge of Maine. He was a member of York Rite Bodies of Bangor; Scottish Rite Bodies; Valley of Bangor; Maine Consistory 32nd Degree; Anah Shriners, Bangor; and Millwee Chapter No. 198 Order of the Eastern Star, Orrington. He was a former member of Mystic Tie Grange, Kenduskeag. Francis was a member of SAD No. 64 Board of Directors for 45 years, 30 years as chairman. He was president of Kenduskeag Cemetery Association for 23 years and moderated the town meetings in Kenduskeag for more than 40 years. Francis was a lifetime member and honorary deacon of Kenduskeag Union Church, and treasurer for 25 years. He was also the Kenduskeag fire chief for 13 years.

Francis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley (Bragan) Harvey; son, Stewart Harvey; daughter, Frances Currier and her husband, Gary, all of Kenduskeag; three grandchildren, Nichole Harvey of Kenduskeag, Lindsey Harvey of Black River, N.Y., and Carlie Wright and her husband, Travis, of Land O’ Lakes, Fla.; great-granddaughter, Ava Wright; and great-grandson, Landin Wright, both of Land O’ Lakes, Fla. He was predeceased by one son, Frank Harvey and his wife, Arlene.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Kenduskeag Union Church, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. by the officers and members of Kenduskeag Lodge with a funeral service after officiated by the Rev. Ruth Guerette, pastor. Spring interment will be in the family lot at Kenduskeag Village Cemetery.
