BANGOR – Rita D. Barry, wife of the late Donald Barry, died Feb. 13, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Orono, the daughter of Jeremiah and Alice (Alexander) Peters.

Rita grew up in Orono, where she attended St. Mary’s School. She was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Rita enjoyed the time she spent caring for her grandson as he grew up.

Surviving are one daughter, Theresa Doherty and her husband, Allen, of Bangor; one grandson, Sean Doherty of Bangor; two stepgrandchildren, Nicole Benson of Birmingham, Ala., and Daniel Doherty of Fort Covington, N.Y.; one nephew, Robert Dore of Bangor; and one niece, Elaine Howe of North Windham. Rita was predeceased by her husband in 1997; and by one sister, Frances Dore.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to Rita’s family may be offered at
