Applications open for Sea Goddess pageant

ROCKLAND, Maine — Applications are now available to young women who would like to enter the 2012 Maine Lobster Festival Sea Goddess Pageant.

This traditional highlight of each year’s Lobster Festival takes place this year on Wednesday evening, Aug. 1.

Applications can be downloaded and printed at http://www.mainelobsterfestival.com.

Applications and supporting information must be postmarked by April 15 but not before March 1 and mailed to: Maine Lobster Festival Coronation Committee, P.O. Box 552 Rockland 04841.

The young woman chosen as Sea Goddess receives a $2,000 cash award and represents the Maine lobster fishing industry at events in Maine and across New England throughout her one-year reign.

The Maine Sea Goddess Pageant is open to 20 young women who meet the Maine Lobster Festival’s guidelines. Applicants must be single, a high school (or equivalent GED) graduate, not more than 21 years of age and a Maine resident.

The 65th annual Maine Lobster Festival will be held on the Rockland waterfront Wednesday through Sunday, Aug. 1-5.
