EAST MACHIAS, Maine — Because of a potential winter storm Down East, the Washington County Republican caucuses scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, at Washington Academy have been postponed.

They have been rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Washington Academy, according to Christopher M. Gardner, chairman of the Washington County Republican Committee. Those with questions are urged to contact their respective town chairs.

The National Weather Service office in Caribou issued a winter storm watch on Friday to be in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. The forecast calls for blowing snow with possible accumulations in excess of 7 inches. Snow, sleet and strong winds of 15-25 mph with gusts of 30-40 mph are expected to create hazardous traveling conditions.
