BREWER, Maine — All area school-choice students entering high school next fall have an opportunity next week to see what Brewer High School has to offer during Step-up Day for the Class of 2016.

“It is important for kids to come in order to make the most informed decision about which school is the best fit for them,” Andrea Jordan, the school’s liaison for academic studies, said Thursday. “Kids will have an opportunity to not only see the school and meet the faculty but also learn about the many programs that Brewer has to offer.”

Step-up Day activities start at 10 a.m. and run through 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. The event kicks off with a welcome in the gymnasium and will be followed by a free lunch in the cafeteria with faculty and some current students.

After lunch, students may choose among three interactive presentations on various academic departments at the high school.

Parents can learn about the school and the academic programs and extracurricular activities offered during an information session on the same date from 6 to 8 p.m.

Parents also will have an opportunity to meet faculty, staff and student representatives and tour the school.
