PORTLAND | Newly released documents, including email messages, indicate a one-time Democratic candidate for Maine governor may have known far more about an anonymous website aimed at destroying one of her opponents than she acknowledged. The documents, part of a federal court case, appear to show that Rosa Scarcelli …

As Gomer Pyle used to say, “Surprise, surprise, surprise!” Like we didn’t already know she was lying. Still to be honest, I think I’d prefer this liar to the liar we ended up getting in the Blaine House. Ok I’ll admit it, I’d also be willing to say that I’d prefer Richard Nixon to the thing we have now. At least Nixon, like Rosa (Or most any educated person on the planet) had/has “some” brains and “some” social skills. All Mr. LePage seems to have is bad slogans (Handed to him by representatives of the 1%), shallow thoughts, really bad lies, and people who want to disassociate themselves with him. Thank God for him the taxpayers of Maine can still afford to pay his daugther to stick by his side.

    • Anonymous

That you know what a low-life Scarcelli is and would still prefer her to Gov. LePage speaks volumes.

      • StillRelaxin

I know that she probably is a liar.  Exactly how’s that different than what Paul LePage has been caught doing on numerous occasions in the past year? I’m just looking at it from an economic point of view. It would only cost us a fraction to house and feed this liar as opposed to the two government officials we are currently caring for in the Blaine House.

        • Anonymous

That is just a stupid remark~and all politicians are liars.  In one way or the other

          • StillRelaxin

Ha! Thanks for the chuckle. My remark is “Stupid?” Hmm, not very civil of you Mags. I’m sure after the year of “Liar Liar Pants of Fire” that Mr. LePage just had he now REALLY appreciates and is hoping for further support from those like you who hold all politicians such as himself in such high regards.

        • Anonymous

You’re not looking at it from an economic point of view; you’re looking at it from an obsessive’s point of view.  If the Governor waved a magic wand that balanced the budget, eliminated the income tax, and gave everyone in the state a million dollars, you’d still b*t*h about him and his daughter.

      Yeah! Zactly!!!   YOU SAID IT!!!

    • Anonymous

      Really??  I think NOT !!!

This shows how some incompetent dems helped deliver the election to the 38 percent  winner from the Texas oil billionaire party. Scarcelli and Bailey should go hide under the rock where Libby Mitchel went. Now how long before Bailey shows up working for Polequin?

    • Anonymous

Yes..her stupidity made Libby a worse candidate…please..leave your LePage derrangement syndrome at home.

  • Anonymous

Sounds like Bailey owes Shawn Moody $35K!

    • Anonymous

Moody was a real nice guy.  Down to earth, understood small business, and way too honest to be seen with these clowns.  And he was a real independent.

      • Anonymous

        “WAS”

I hope as a real Mainer he fleeced Cutler, Scarcelli, etc. and promoted his business for free…Maine, politics as it should be.

        • Anonymous

Shawn is a friend, and IS very nice person!

      • Anonymous

I so agree…he is a great guy~and runs an honest business.

Not guilty by reason of stupidity??

“I didn’t even know what a blog was in 2009,” she said.

    • Exactly.  What an extremely lame attempt at trying to look innocent.  She doesn’t seem too bright, so I’ll accept she was clueless about blogs, but I’m pretty sure she could understand what it meant to put information up on any sort of website.; she has no excuse. What a fool.

The contents of the “Cutler files” were largely a true rendition of Cutlers very questionable past. The true victims were all the manufacturing jobs that Cutler arranged to be transferred to China being the point man and lawyer on locaation there and all the home buyers that were duped by Thornburg Mortgage Inc while he was a director of same and living large.

      • Anonymous

        Exactly!

        • Anonymous

I don’t have a dog in this hunt.. but it seems that many here are killing the messenger and ignoring the content of the message. Eliot Cutler, by his character, his resume, his personal past, and his political tactics was not fit to be governor.. dispite all the efforts by the BDN and Portland Press Herald to cover his sleazy history. If the BDN had performed their journalist responsibility.. then the Cutler files would not have had to be created. If the U.S. District Court in New Mexico had done their job, Cutler would be before a grand jury.

          • Anonymous

and Lepage is fit to be governor? I voted for Cutler and I wished he had won.

          • Anonymous

            You can’t fix stupid.

      • Anonymous

ya gotta think that Maine Heritage is going to come up with something.      I just don’t understand why they are including the man that damn near beat Le Page without a party platform or ticket.    There’s the hint……wink, wink, nudge, nudge…..    Now ole Paul wouldn’t go after both…..would he?

As far as I’m concerned,  he has some serious primary candidates to worry about,   that’s if he survives this ever increasing,  self proclomated crisis.

There are many legislators looking at re election, with many important decisions in front of them, the Legislature should demonstrate to this Governor, that the gamesmanship is done. It’s time to work together, or get outta the way.

Why focus, on people that ran against Le Page? And have nothing to do with nothing. Classic Tea Party, republican diversion to get some heat off the one that really matters.

Le Page is in this all by himself, he creates crises, why? It’s time to understand Governor, that you are only a part of what is in charge. I am so sick of this, our forfather’s would be embarassed.

  • poormaniac

Good picture of Rosa waving bye bye !

  • Anonymous

It would seem that Scarcelli’s comments concerning LePage and Republicans were made “tongue in cheek, ” but now the journalists will be trying to pin dirty politics on Governor LePage’s campaign.  This article makes no sense.  Scarcelli got into the race in April 2010 in order to boost the campaign money so Libby Mitchell would qualify for her clean election funds–that seemed overly obvious.
Jon Albrecht–then you do not know much about clean election funds. As soon as Rosa Scarcelli had hit the amount of spending necessary in the campaign, then Libby Mitchell and others were able to coolect these public funds paid by taxpayers, to run their campaigns. Clean election funding should be abolished.

    • Anonymous

Nothing obviously about it. When Scarcelli first stated the rounds of Democratic activist meetings everyone was asking “where did she come from”. No one believed then that she was a D. How she managed her properties raised real questions about whether she was a D or not. Many thought she was an R looking for aid in expanding her business.
It makes no sense to suggest that she could boost Libby Mitchell’s public funding. That doesn’t make any sense at all.

      • Anonymous

“How she managed her properties raised real questions about whether she was a D or not.”

That has to be the most simple minded statement made by anyone in these posts all day. The fact that she ran apartments as a slumlord disqualified her as a Democrat? Your implication is that liberals can’t be crooks and scoundrels…please.

  • OhWell

Dennis Bailey even states what he is!  “Not much; I’ll slither by it.”  It continues to amaze me that people follow his advice when it seems his only moral direction is who pays him the most.  I would even BET Casinos No would be Casinos Yes if the price was right!  Mainers, please do your own political research rather than accept the rantings of the talking money as truth.

    • Anonymous

I initially bought into the Scarcelli facade, thinking she was the best among the D’s, but it’s clear Scarcelli and Bailey are cut from the same cloth. I don’t know who should be more insulted.

  • Anonymous

    They should be jailed

  • Anonymous

What sleazy slimeballs we have in Maine.

    • Anonymous

Why should Maine be different then any place else?   This kind of garbage is common everywhere.

  • OMG , what a surprise. Another liberal getting caught doing a bad. Freakin ,lying ,crook.

    • Anonymous

a liberal is someone who walks out of the room when an argument turns into a fight
a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged

    • Anonymous

Rosa…good bye. Stop going on WVOM and writing for the BDN..your a liar.

      • Anonymous

“your a liar”. I think you mean you’re a liar.

    • Her biggest crime was the end result!

      Bozo in the Blaine House!

  • Anonymous

Did anyone really believe her, “Gee…my hubby and campaign manager did this without my knowledge” story? Either she was a part of this slimy operation OR she was unbelievably stupid…either way, people were supporting her why???

  • Anonymous

Liar liar pants on fire and pass the jelly, she is toast.  Phew! Mainers dodged that one. We may have elected a Governor who did not know what a blog was in 2009!  Imagine, a 40-something politician who didn’t know what a blog was while they were running for an elected position! And the lies just keep coming. Blind ambition and power madness.

    • Anonymous

“And the lies just keep coming. Blind ambition and power madness.” You sure got that right, straight from the Blaine House.

  • Anonymous

Why do I always smell sulphur when Dennis Bailey is around?

  • Anonymous

The only thing surprising about this article is that the BDN didn’t find a way not to print it.  So difficult to find the truth about Democrats in this paper.

    • Anonymous

What stupid logic. You’re going to knock the BDN for printing this because you expected them not to print it? God, get a life.

      • Anonymous

Yeah you’re right.  They’ve always been so impartial in the past.

  • Anonymous

I’m disappointed.  I had the opportunity to meet her when she was up in Fort Kent one day.  Had a nice chat with her and liked her line of reasoning.

    • Anonymous

That’s how politicians work their magic…slowly reel them in.

  • Anonymous

I am shocked that a politician might use unethical means to bolster her/his election and then say they had not idea it was happening.  What is this world coming to?

  • Anonymous

Well…….at least while they’re in court, fighting amongst themselves, they aren’t bothering anybody else.

    Gadds! You gotta love lawyers.

  • Anonymous

It is amusing to see what these animals will do to each other.  They should have gone public and stood behind the cutlerfiles website.  Maybe then Cutler would be back in China at his master’s feet instead of back here trying again.

  • What actually was on the blog that was so terrible? ” I feel we need to dislodge him before he develops roots.” I am sure that kind of thought process has gone on in every single political process since the inception of democracy.

  • Guest

I haven’t listened the decievers on WVOM,, I mean Ric and George for months, I remember when I  believed they interviewed people and not just pandered to politicans, .. Well, Rosa is one of their Goddesses, sort of like Bob Carlson was one of their Gods….

      YES

at least Bailey is against the slimy casinos.

  • just another bunch of dirtbags having at it.. business as usually ,, except for the getting caught part

  • Sue

The quote from the message about a blog campaign was about other blogs and the comment sections on newspaper websites, Scarcelli said.
“I didn’t even know what a blog was in 2009,” she said.

Wow. 2009 and she doesn’t know what a blog is??? Who the he!! is she trying to kid? Darn good thing she didn’t get my vote. The funny thing is, all those “lies” about Cutler on the Cutler Files backfired. He almost made it in. If only more would have defected from the eminently boring Mitchell, we’d have a decent governor.

  • Anonymous

At the time, Bailey was also working for Moody, who paid him $35,000 to run his campaign.
“As Rosa predicted, Libby [Mitchell] will be third,” Bailey wrote. “We can get Moody into the 7-8 percent range and Cutler will be toast.”
I wondered who got a popular ‘working class’ guy to run against LePage….now we know! this sucks!

  • Anonymous

So how did Cutler channel his money into Moody’s campaign…a Chinese connection, like Clinton’s?

  • Anonymous

“I feel we need to dislodge him before he develops roots…I think it’s highly important to start a blog campaign against him like the anti-Richardson campaign.” – Scarcelli’s own writings of Cutler.
And she claims this was taken out of context?????? “I think it’s highly important to start a blog campaign against him”…ummm..and she claims she didn’t even know what a blog was???? mmmhmmm……

Should kick this horse-face right in the teeth…her stupidity led to Cutler being bashed…which led directly to the election of LIEpage….

  • Anonymous

Throw the full extent of whatever laws are available at Scarcelli and all involved. The political climate in this country has really reached a discouraging low. It seems far too many candidates rely on denigrating their opponents through distortions of the truth and outright lies rather than demonstrating the merits that they would bring to the office. As a result, we’ve ended up with a disgusting bunch of self-serving, and oligarch-serving, politicians in office.

  • Anonymous

Someone had to do it, the press sure wasn’t gonna bring anything damaging & true about Cutler to the public. The media took sides like always. Press your opinion shows everyday in headlines, pictures and the beliefs of the so called journalist comes thru with pitiful choice of words.

  • Who knows why Cutler had a problem with the website except maybe that it told the truth about him and he is ashamed of that.

    • Anonymous

So you are saying the blog was factual, and that she only started lying AFTER she wrote a blog? That is as bad as what she is claiming. Either Rosa is a liar and everything she says and writes is suspect (my thoughts), or you pick and choose what you want to believe according to your politics (your position?) The same logic applies to Mr. LePage.

  • Anonymous

Love it when the truth comes out.  I hope this is the last we see of Rosa and Dennis.  They are slime.

  • Wow she sounds like the prez can look you in the eye and not tell the truth! Oh that’s the left’s way of hope (that we are dumb enough to not disagree ) change (what I have to beg for when the left is running our great nation)

Now that we’re suffering through the 1461 excruciating days of the Paul LePage reign, can someone please explain to me why Rosa would rather have LePage in office than Cutler? I can’t figure that one out.

  • Anonymous

One thing is perfectly clear – Dennis Bailey is two-faced and should never be trusted. Getting paid by Moody while doing all this for Rosa; if I were Moody I’d be asking for my 35K back!

    • kennyh

Bailey is the same slime you see on TV always trying to limit any Mainer from enjoying casino’s. This guy should be booed off ant stage he climbs on.

        I agree!!

Funny how this is just coming out now. Those Dems a slimy whining bunch.

  • Anonymous

Stop the money flow, especially from out of State interest, and these lowlifes probably would not be that interested to run for office.

Then maybe we could get some real and honest people to run, that would work for the people’s interest. This goes for all elected positions State and Federal.

says alot about those in politics doesn’t it, I think we need an independant party, although would probebly become just as corrupt as the dem/repub party’s have.

    • Anonymous

      We do have one…

  • Anonymous

What this article implies is that the Republicans put up Scarcelli to destroy Cutler so that a weak Democratic candidate (Mitchell or Scarcelli) would be easy picking for LePage. They have done it before in Oregon and Washington State.
This needs a great deal more investigation.

    • Anonymous

Scarcelli a Democrat helping Paul Lepage, that is too funny!

As a born resident of Maine East Holden to be exact i read the paper daily and its full of hate and crime i don’t see any reason to return i have all that here in AZ with sun cheaper living and better wages. I feel sorry for my family who still reside in Maine its not the place i used to call home.

This article reads like an episode of “Surviror’ ie who’s gonna get thrown off the island.

Her support for Libby ‘never waivered’ but she started a prayer circle for LePage?

    Hellooo…!

  • Anonymous

I think its pretty curious that Ms. Scarcelli emerges here as a unethical and cunning individual yet lest me remind readers that this is the same Rosa Scarcelli who is the owner and largest housing management entity of Section 8 Federally Assisted Housing in Maine. If these accounts are true wonder what kind of business women she really is and how she treats her tenants? Gracious I hope she’s not a liar to the Federal Government. Just asking?

  • Anonymous

Karma is a you know what…I am positive Ms. Scarcelli has a whole bunch more bad luck coming her way. This is just beginning of her stink that will hopefully get exposed. She didn’t do it but the pool boy did. What a defense.

These people are nothing more then thugs. Now one can undertsand why we tax payers don’t trust politicians. I don’t believe one thing these people say. They are not stupid but rather just plain dishonest!!!!!!

It is official: Elections in America are a complete hoax

    http://www.wearechange.org/?p=11624

  • Anonymous

In December 2010, Scarcelli suggested in an interview that she was considering running against U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe in the 2012 Senate election, or possibly launching another gubernatorial bid in 2014.[10]  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosa_Scarcelli
    Or maybe not….

OMG….its over..do we have to listen to more garbage from that election!   Sour grapes are now rotting!  AND it stinks~

That stink you smell is Dennis Bailey (Casinos No!) and Scarelli.

I agree on Bailey..and I do not know Rosa..so can not say anything there.

  • Aaron M White

Eliot Cutler will be our next Governor anyways :)

  • jbmaine

At this point it is irrelevant.  The consequence of Cutler is LePage.

  • Anonymous

“I feel we need to dislodge him before he develops roots,” Scarcelli wrote of Cutler in November 2009.
Thanks for LePage Mrs. Scarcelli…..although it’s not news…I’m pretty sure we all knew you were involved

  • Anonymous

Oh Rosa! Can it be true???

  • Anonymous

She did us all a favor, exposed Cutler for the fraud that he is, just another Limosine Liberal who’s only specialty is closing businesses and reopening them in CHINA.

To pretend he is an independant is a joke!

  • Anonymous

Am I understanding this correctly? The Dems involved in unscrupulous behavior against one another.
Thought they were like bugs in a rug.

  • Anonymous

Interesting  that Mr. Bailey described himself as someone who would “slither by”.  Consider
just what kind of creatures do that.  To think that the man had such insight!

  • Jonathan Smith

Eliot Cutler is still dirty and there is a great deal not being said about his past actions due to attorney settlements. Why is it that so many lawyers or “professional politicians” have skeletons in their closet? Most are attracted to the office to help themselves. They think our tax dollars are a perpetual cookie jar for them to take from. Fitting that he comes from Cape Elizabeth and not the Maine that struggles to put bread on the table.

  • Anonymous

Thanks Rosa! Good job helping Paul LePage get elected. Happy now?
