EDGECOMB, Maine — A Boothbay man was injured Wednesday night in a rollover car accident near a dangerous corner on Route 27, according to police.

Jesse Erskine, 27, suffered serious back and leg injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital by a LifeFlight helicopter, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Rand Maker.

Maker said Erskine was driving south in a 2003 Ford Taurus on Route 27 near its intersection with Mason Road in Edgecomb when the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder, he overcorrected, and it slid sideways and rolled onto its roof in the northbound ditch. Maker said there is a sharp curve in the road where the accident occurred.

Lincoln County Deputy Justin Drake determined that driver error resulted in the crash and that speed and alcohol were not factors. Erskine, who was alone in the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt.
