“Kennebunk Police Lt. Anthony Bean Burpee”

Can’t make this stuff up, folks.

  • Boogie_Bangor

Prior charges, runs over wife, $2k bail.

Folks….. what’s wrong with this picture?

    • Anonymous

As usual, those establishing bails are using 1800’s schedules!

First thing that entered my mind as well.

But, this story doesn’t say much, like as in: was it intentional? Like a previous poster pointed out there are possible scenerious where it may not have been malicious. The only thing this story provided was a grabbing headline.

      • Anonymous

Yes. I am glad to see that I was not the only one who thought so. And I agree with your statement wholeheartedly that the only thing provided was a grabbing headline. No meat. Personally, regardless of what the story is about, I simply cannot form an educated, honest opinion to the story and would rather not be led to believe something which may be untrue simply because the writer needed to fill up space. This could be really hurtful and harmful to those individuals involved especially if what really happened was indeed an accident.

He did wait for the ambulance….maybe he even called it….doesn’t say intentional to me…but still a punishable offense

        • KC

If it were an accident do you really think they would have charged and arrested him?

    • Anonymous

It should have been PR bail.

    • KC

Exactly. And where are all the comments from people who say women have it easier then men when it comes to abuse/assault? hmmmmm

    • Anonymous

Seems like since a repub has been in office we have more horrific assults and affordable bail.

      • Anonymous

HAHAHAHAHA!!! That is the most pathetic piece of liberal whining I’ve ever heard! Baldacci was the one who redid the bail code. He’s also the one who oversaw the shift to allowing more bail.

Get your head out of sand and stop blaming people who are smarter than you are.

For a second I almost thought you knew a joke
when you saw one, but you proved me wrong
        you dont.

While normally I would advocate for the victim, this story leaves a lot out. It IS winter, it IS icy, he COULD have been in the truck and she was standing on the outside lets say by his window, they were arguing (that part was reported) and as he tromped the gas she happened to fall because maybe she was moving away, or, maybe trying to kick his vehicle?. It does say he stayed on the scene so my guess is it was an accident. It does happen, I’ve seen it. I have to agree with some of the previous comments I have seen about articles written in this paper and I would like to know if anyone ever edits these ‘stories’ because honestly, half of what I have read is more like gossip or a perpetuation of gossip than a statement of facts.

    • Anonymous

Kind of similar to your entire statement…..perpetuation of gossip and hypothesis with no basis in fact or first hand knowledge.

      • Anonymous

Not really. I offered a hypothesis in the form of a question to show what type of substance is missing from the article. They were quick to say he ran her over, without offering the details. The only value to the story that was written was the immediate feeling of shock to the event. And even mentioning the fact that he faces prior criminal charges without even being able to support the story with the details of those charges is just downright bad reporting as they may actually have nothing to do with the story or the x-wife. But the writer of the story would have you think so. I actually didnt perpetuate gossip. I offered something to think about, and pointed out how very much was missing from the story. If I had been the editor, I wouldnt have allowed it to be printed without the facts.

If it was an accident, the officers would not have arrested him.  Police investigate accidents all the time and the circumstances have to be much different for it to end in an arrest.  Police also have access to a criminal history (not just convictions), so they can gauge the character of the suspect, for instance if a guy has a history of domestic violence.  Here’s an alternative hypothesis:  The guy is abusive and stalking his ex-wife, looking for every opportunity to create chaos.  They are talking in the cab of his truck, because it is so cold outside,  an argument ensues, so the woman tries to exit the vehicle. As she does this the man drives off and she falls out the cab and gets run over.

That could very well be. The point is that based on the lack of information, we wouldnt know and are left to gossip and guess.

I would like to thank you – I enjoy discussing in a civilized, non-accusatory way. I appreciate the way you presented your argument.

Even though he may have wanted to, Al never would’ve done this to Peg!

      Too funny Buz!

Maybe not, but I’ll bet Ted Bundy would have.

MAINE wake up — man runs over wife, $2000 bail.  Couple in Bath Maine grow pot 20,000 and 25,000 bail.  The justice system is being run by people who condone domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assaults of all kinds.  This is our state and the people who pay taxes (like me) need to stand up and say that this is WRONG.  If the justice system disagrees with what I said, FIX IT.

Um, you missed the part about the drug dealers in Bath being armed criminals too…
