Outlook: The Black Bears, after a week off, hit the road in hopes of solidifying their position in the standings. Fifth-place UMaine, which is 2½ games out of third, is coming off Saturday’s 67-59 home win over Binghamton. The Bears continue to stress defense and rebounding as McLemore continues his assault on UMaine’s career record for 3-pointers. The Retrievers’ biggest issue is defense as they have allowed a league-high 81.7 ppg in AE play. Conference opponents have shot 52 percent against them. UMBC lost 87-76 to Albany on Wednesday night.

Outlook: Having won three of their last five, the Black Bears return to action against the Retrievers. UMaine eked out a 48-47 victory over Binghamton last Saturday in Orono. The Bears have been thin recently with senior Sam Wheeler, junior Amber Smith and freshman Danielle Walczak all out with injuries. UMBC has dropped three in a row, including Wednesday’s 65-63 home loss to second-place Albany. The Retrievers have struggled shooting 3-pointers (.257) in league play but are adept at forcing turnovers and scoring quickly in transition. UMaine must keep its turnovers in check.
