BANGOR, Maine — The city will hold a public meeting next week for those living inside the area bordered by Main, Buck, Third and Union streets as part of its effort to develop a neighborhood revitalization strategy for the area.

People residing in the 4,000-by-1,500-foot area are being urged to attend the meeting scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Doughty School Auditorium at 143 Fifth St. — to voice their questions, concerns and ideas. Another meeting will be held Thursday, March 1, at the same location and the same time.

City officials are looking to redevelop and revitalize the area to deal with abandoned properties, subpar housing and unmaintained houses. They also want to capitalize further on improvements along the Bangor Waterfront as well as major additions such as the new arena, Hollywood Casino and concerts at the Waterfront Pavilion.

For information, contact Rosie Vanidestine, assistant director of community development, at 992-4200.
