NEWPORT, Maine — Despite the unseasonably warm winter, the 39th annual Dysart’s Snowmobile Ride-in to benefit Pine Tree Camp is still a go for this weekend in Newport.

Snowmobilers from all corners of the state are expected to make their way to central Maine in support of Pine Tree Camp, a summer camp for Maine children and adults with disabilities. The 285-acre camp is on North Pond in the town of Rome.

One highlight of the ride-in — scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday — will be the annual Q106.5 Celebrity Egg Ride from Levant to Newport on Saturday.

Celebrity egg riders will travel 15 miles with raw eggs stuffed into their jackets. Each year, the total number of raw eggs represents more than $30,000 raised for Pine Tree Camp. Snowmobilers will ride from the Hungry Hollow 76er’s Snowmobile Club in Levant off ITS 84 and will arrive in Newport at approximately 11 a.m. to parade through downtown and back to the armory.

This year’s celebrity riders include Wayne Harvey and Todd Simcox from WABI-TV, and Craig Colson, Cindy Campbell and J.R. Mitchell from Q106.5.

Contingency plans have been established to help combat the scarcity of snow on the trails, organizers said. All other events will be as scheduled.

Since 1974, the Snowmobile Ride-in has raised more than $3.9 million in support of Pine Tree Camp. All proceeds from the weekend will benefit the camp.

The Snowmobile Ride-in is made possible with support from sponsors including Q106.5, Dysart’s, A.E. Robinson, Bud’s Shop ’n Save and Sappi Fine Paper.
