CASTINE — The Husson University Eagles used a 11-2 run near the end of the first half to earn a 73-50 men’s basketball victory over the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners Saturday.
Luis Medina paced the 8-10 Eagles of Bangor with 16 points. Eric Modica finished with 14 points and Phil Leighton chipped in with 12 points.
Brandon Theriault scored 15 points to pace the 2-15 Mariners. Andy Ball added 11 points.
Fisher 66, UMPI 49
At Presque Isle on Sunday, Alan Womack and Dennis Norfold each scored 17 points to spark Fisher College by the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Norfold also finished with 16 rebounds for 8-17 Fisher.
Aaron Hutchins led the Owls (3-11) with 11 points.
NMCC 59, Unity 44
At Presque Isle on Sunday, Matt Till scored 23 of his game-high 29 points in the second half to lead Northern Maine Community College by Unity College.
Doug Sharp tossed in 11 points for 4-5 NMCC. Sam Joy chipped in with 10 points.
John Crowe paced 2-9 Unity College with 18 points. Neal D’Acierno added 12 points.
EMCC wins two
At Bangor, Eastern Maine Community College earned a first-place ranking in the Yankee Small College Conference with weekend victories over New Hampshire Technical Institute and Nashua College.
The Eagles (15-1) topped NHTI 68-58 on Saturday and defeated Nashua 69-56 on Sunday.
In Saturday’s game, Stephen Eskau collected a game-high 18 points to spark EMCC to the win. John Caputo finished with 11 points and Kyle Pluchino scored 10.
NHTI (11-4) was paced by Jackson Piel with 13 points.
In Sunday’s game, Caputo tossed in 17 points to propel the Eagles. Thelbert Green and Stephen Eskau each netted 14 points. Pluchino chipped in with 10 points and nine assists.
Kevin Perez tallied 16 points to lead the Lynx.
USM 85, West. Conn. 84
At Gorham on Saturday, Chris Pagentine sank two free throws with 2.8 seconds remaining in the game to lift the University of Southern Maine past Western Connecticut State University.
Pagentine finished with 18 points for the 8-10 Huskies. Jeremy Jackson led USM with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Brandon Tomah scored 15 points while Alex Kee had 12.
DaQuan Brooks paced Western Connecticut (15-4) with 24 points.
Castleton 92, UMF 72
At Castleton, Vt. on Saturday, Mark Comstock led five Castleton State College scorers in double figures with 24 points as the 12-7 Spartans defeated the University of Maine at Farmington.
The Beavers (10-8) were led by Pat Sumner with 18 points. Andrew Dickey and Yusuf Iman added 12 points apiece.
Thomas 97, Green Mountain 56
At Poultney, Vt. on Saturday, Jarrad DeVaughn registered a game-high 21 points as Thomas College powered past Green Mountain College for the win.
Thomas’ Franklin Salvador netted six 3-point field goals for 18 points. Martin Cleveland also scored 18 points for the 10-7 Terriers.
Jeremiah Aponte tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds for the 3-13 Eagles.
Bowdoin 67, Colby 40
At Brunswick on Saturday, Andrew Madlinger tossed in a game-high 18 points as Bowdoin College rolled past Colby College.
Maximilian Staiger and John Swords contributed 10 points apiece for the 13-5 Polar Bears.
Eric Beaulieu and Shane Rogers each posted eight points for the 6-12 Mules.
Salve Regina 61, UNE 51
At Newport, R.I. on Saturday, Salve Regina erased a seven-point deficit with a 20-2 run early in the second half en route to victory over the University of New England.
Isiah Pringle scored 16 points to spark 11-6 Salve Regina.
The University of New England was paced by Marcus Winn with 13 points. Jordan Ferreira pitched in with 12 points.
Tufts 67, Bates 62
At Medford, Mass. on Saturday, Scott Anderson led the Jumbos with 13 points as Tufts Univeristy notched its sixth win in seven games with a victory over Bates College.
Mark Brust connected for a game-high 29 points to pace the 10-8 Bobcats. John Squires chipped in with 12 points and 16 rebounds.
St. Joe’s 79, Suffolk 55
At Standish on Saturday, Chris Petzy tossed in 17 points to help propel Saint Joseph’s College to the win over Suffolk University.
Matt Medeiros recorded 14 points for the 13-4 Monks. Clark Noonan and Zach O’Brien added 10 points apiece.
Suffolk (8-11) was led by Matt Pepdjonovic with 13 points.
St. Joseph’s 73, Suffolk 60
At Standish on Saturday, Lindsay Moore connected for a game-high 22 points to propel Saint Joseph’s College by Suffolk University.
Ashley Geel recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Monks (13-6). Megan McDevitt scored 13 points while Danyelle Shufelt added 10.
Jennifer Ruys tallied 17 points for the 13-6 Rams.
Salve Regina 63, UNE 51
At Newport, R.I. on Saturday, Lindsay Shorey recorded 22 points, six blocks and four steals as Salve Regina University topped the University of New England.
Marissa Pendergast chipped in with 11 points for 11-7 Salve Regina.
Kelley Paradis posted 13 points and nine rebounds to pace the 14-4 Nor’easters.

At Presque Isle on Sunday, Rashell Saucier led five University of Maine at Presque Isle scorers in double figures with 15 as the Owls notched the win over Fisher College.
Olivia McNally scored 14 points for the 7-10 Owls while Renee Moore had 12. Emily Moore tossed in 11 points and Emily Pelletier added 10.
Fisher (0-24) was led by Javanna Bernard with 24 points.
USM 69, West. Conn. 56
At Gorham on Saturday, Haley Jordan collected 23 points as the University of Southern Maine topped Western Connecticut State University for its fifth-straight win.
Jordan Grant scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the 15-4 Huskies. Abby Hasson also netted 12 points and Renee Nicholas added 11.
Western Connecticut (13-6) was paced by Stephanie Slonski with 16 points.
Castleton 73, UMF 48
At Castleton, Vt. on Saturday, Stephanie Bull registered a career-high 18 points off the bench to lead Castleton State College by the University of Maine at Farmington.
Vanessa Powers chipped in with 12 points and 14 rebounds for the 14-4 Spartans.
Kenni Norton recorded 13 points for the 6-11 Beavers.
Tufts 64, Bates 52
At Medford, Mass. on Saturday, Liz Moynihan scored 14 points as 17-3 Tufts University defeated Bates College to notch its sixth-straight victory.
Molly Brown paced the 8-11 Bobcats with a game-high 18 points. Meredith Kelly pitched in with 10 points.
Bowdoin 64, Colby 52
At Brunswick on Saturday, Bowdoin College erased an 11-point halftime deficit en route to victory over Colby College.
Kaitlin Donahoe led all scorers with 21 points for the 14-5 Polar Bears. Alexa Barry tallied 11 points while Amy Hackett chipped in with 10.
Colby (13-4) was led by Jil Vaughan with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Aarika Ritchie posted 11 points and Diana Manduca added 10.
Thomas 91, Green Mountain 70
At Poultney, Vt. on Saturday, Kelly Bird poured in a game-high 35 points to power Thomas College by Green Mountain College.
Ashley Matchett contributed 18 points off the bench for the 3-15 Terriers.
Millicent Hopper scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace the 2-15 Eagles.
MMA 57, Husson 53
At Castine on Saturday, Sam Goda scored 16 points and hauled in 10 rebounds as Maine Maritime Academy held off Husson University for the win.
Maggie Smith netted 13 points for the 9-8 Mariners. Casey McCloskey added 10 points while Leah Jackson grabbed 11 rebounds.
Amanda Gifford and Stephanie Comstock paced the Eagles (9-8) with 13 points apiece. Brianna Hanscom posted 12 points and Kelli Murray chipped in with 11.
