SANFORD, Maine — Police arrested a 28-year-old man after he allegedly robbed Rogers Supa Dolla on Cottage Street and brandished a knife at a store clerk who gave chase, according to Sanford police reports.

Daryl Blums of Sanford walked into the store around 8:50 p.m. and took money from an open safe, according to police. Blums then ran out of the store and an employee followed, confronting Blums outside the store where Blums pulled a knife on the clerk and threatened to stab him, police said.

Blums fled the scene and the clerk went back into the store to wait for police.

Sanford police asked for help from Wells Police Department’s K-9 unit. The dog tracked Blums to the spot where police arrested him and recovered the stolen cash.

Blums was taken to York County Jail and is being held on $50,000 cash bail.
