MOUNT CHASE – Ernest Dolham Mitchell, 84, passed into the arms of his personal savior, Jesus Christ, Jan. 25, 2012, now holding the hand of his bride of 65 years, Laura (Carver) Mitchell. He was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Woburn, Mass., the son of Harold and Aletta (Dolham) Mitchell.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. His second love was his Harley-Davidson and riding the open road with his best friend, Carol Heath.

He is survived by three children, Ruth and Richard Purvis of Carmel, Merle and Kathie Mitchell of Old Orchard Beach and Stephanie York and her fiance, Brad Pusey, of Glenburn; four grandchildren, Rhonda and her husband, Wade Fridley, Randy Purvis, Neal Mitchell and Mark York; two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Lance Fridley; two sisters, Charlotte Morton of North Carolina and Bernice Burakowski of Cushing; a brother, Harold Mitchell Jr. of Cushing and Florida; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Laura; and four siblings, Parker and Eugene Mitchell, Frances Kellogg and Marion Morton.

Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Patten Pentecostal Church, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with Pastor Franklin Randall officiating.
