Jordan powers USM past Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Haley Jordan registered a double-double with a game-high 25 points and 16 rebounds and Courtney Cochran racked up 22 points and 11 boards to power the University of Southern Maine Huskies to an 86-53 women’s basketball win over Plymouth State Tuesday night.

Nicole Garland contributed 12 points and five assists and Jordan Grant added 10 points and nine rebounds for the University of Southern Maine of Gorham (14-4, 6-2 LEC).

Sam Monohon and Michaela Galvin paced Plymouth State (2-14, 0-8 LEC) with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Colby 56, Regis 52

At Waterville, the Regis was called for “traveling” with seven seconds left as Colby held on for the win.

Rachael Mack propeled the Mules with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists. Diana Manduca netted 11 points and Jil Vaughan added nine for 13-3 Colby.

Claire Ramonas tossed in a game-high 21 points to pace 12-4 Regis. Emilee Marro chipped in with 13 points.

Bates 66, St. Joseph’s 62

At Lewiston, Bates took a 14-point halftime lead and then held on after St. Joseph’s rallied to erase the lead and snapped the Monks’ seven-game winning streak.

Meredith Kelly led 8-10 Bates with 13 oints and Allaina Murphy added 10 points and six rebounds.

Ashley Geel paced 11-6 St. Joseph’s with 20 points and eight rebounds and Megan McDevitt added nine points.

Men’s Basketball

Plymouth State 72, So. Maine 59

At Plymouth, N.H., Petey Skevas led a list of four double-figure scorers for the Panthers in a Little East Conference win over the Huskies.

Sheldon Benson tallied 13 points, Jesse Sabolis scored 11 and Kyle Walker added 10 for Plymouth State (6-10, 2-6 LEC).

Jeremy Jackson registered a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds for the University of Maine of Gorham (7-10, 1-7 LEC). Brandon Tomah provided 11 points and Conor Sullivan added 11.

Colby 66, UM-Farmington 63

At Waterville, Eric Beaulieu made a layup with 16 seconds left in regulation, then scored four more of his 19 points in overtime to lift the Mules to victory.

Ben Foreman tallied 11 points and six assists and Kyle Donovan posted 10 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots for 6-11 Colby.

Kevin Leary paced the University of Maine-Farmington (9-7) with 19 points. Pet Sumner and Yusuf Iman tossed in 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Bowdoin 73, Babson 68

At Brunswick, Will Hanley recorded his 13th double-double of the season with 23 points and 17 rebounds to help the Polar Bears improve to 12-5.

Ryan O’Connell chipped in with 14 points for Bowdoin and Hanley also had six assists and four blocked shots.

Matt Palazini paced 10-9 Babson with 34 points.
