VAN BUREN – Annette M. Learnard, 89, died Jan. 23, 2012, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born July 13, 1922, in Drummond, New Brunswick, daughter of Charles and Adeline (Rioux) Castonguay.
She was self-employed most of her life, operating Annette’s Bridal Shop for many years. Annette was a member of Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isabella, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 49, and Columbiettes, all of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Learnard of Van Buren; one daughter, Linda Cormier and her husband, Leo James, of Hamlin; one son, Vincent Ouellette and his wife, Linda, of Colorado; one brother, Louis Castonguay of Farmington, Conn.; four sisters, Florence McCluskey Daigle of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Rita Cyr, Claire Madore, both of Bristol, Conn., and Martha Castonguay of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Debbie Cormier and Kelley Holster; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one daughter, Grace Hunter, in 2008.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be at the parish cemetery.
