FORT KENT, Maine — Maine Winter Sports Center biathlete Raleigh Goessling recorded a first-place finish in the junior men’s division during the Biathlon North American Cup mass start event Sunday.
Goessling finished with a time of 45 minutes, 11.7 seconds over the 12.5K course, edging Andrew Chisholm of Alberta (45:54.3).
Marc-Andre Bedard recorded a first-place finish in the senior men’s division with a 47:27.8 time over 15K while Prince Edward Island’s Carson Campbell captured the youth men’s race (37:04.4, 10K) and New Brunswick’s Stephan Hamel won the senior masters event (1:00:12.1, 10K).
Zachary Boissonnault posted a victory in the senior boys competition (34:08.6, 7.5K).
In women’s events, Claude Godbout captured the senior division with a time of 48:33.4 over a 12.5 course. Audrey Vaillancourt of Quebec won the junior women’s division (37:21.8, 10K) and Gina Heppell captured the youth division (39:51.7, 7.5K).
On Saturday, the North American Cup’s sprint races were held. The winners were:
Senior men, Bedard (29:59.4, 10K); junior men, Max Davies of Alberta (32:11.4, 10K); youth men, Campbell (28:00.5, 7.5K); masters men, Will Sweetser of MWSC (33:24, 7.5K); senior women, Godbout (27:10.5, 7.5K); junior women, Vaillancourt (28:59.1, 7.5K); youth women, Gina Heppell of New Brunswick (31:34.2, 6K); senior boys, Boissonnault (23:18.4, 6K); and junior boys, Jason Bartlay of MWSC (25:40.2, 6K).
