Outlook: UMaine needs to get back on the winning track after dropping its last four contests. The Bears struggled mightily during Thursday’s 63-49 loss to Hartford. UMaine is 5-2 at home, but needs to re-establish the defensive intensity, transition attack and offensive chemistry that had them surging earlier in the season. The Seawolves are bidding to take sole possession of first place in the league standings. SBU is coming off Monday’s 61-52 win over New Hampshire, its ninth straight home victory. The Seawolves return four starters and 10 letter winners off the team that reached the AE title game last season.

Outlook: The Bears arrive on Long Island looking for their second win in three games. UMaine lost 64-52 Thursday at Hartford, where Baranowski posted a career-best 19 points. SBU has dropped five games in a row, including Monday’s 63-53 setback at New Hampshire. The Seawolves have played good defense, allowing 55.3 ppg. However, they are challenged offensively, scoring only 43.7 ppg on 30 percent shooting, including 26 percent from 3-point range. As always, UMaine must limit turnovers. The Bears committed 15 at Hartford. The Seawolves also have been turnover-prone (17 per game) and have not received consistent production from their seniors under first-year coach Beth O’Boyle.
