Foreman carries Colby men by Trinity


WATERVILLE — Ben Foreman scored 18 of his game-high 28 points i the second half as the Colby College men’s basketball team overcome a seven-point halftime deficit to post a 60-54 men’s basketball victory over Trinity College Friday night.
Kyle Donovan added 10 points for 5-10 Colby while Connor O’Neil and Eric Beaulieu each put in nine.
Mick Distasio paced 10-7 Trinity with 13 points.

Amherst 80, Bowdoin 66
At Brunswick, Aaron Toomey scored 23 points and recorded 10 assists to carry Amherst by Bowdoin.
Will Hanley recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead 10-4 Bowdoin while Ryan O’Connell added 14 points.

Bates 84, Conn. College 80
At New London, Conn., Luke Matarazzo scored 27 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Bates by Connecticut College.
Reid Christian added 15 points for the 9-6 winners and John Squires contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ed Bogdanovich notched 12 points and nine rebounds.
Matt Vadas led 6-11 Connecticut College with 29 points.

Thomas 79, MMA 50
At Castine, Martin Cleveland recorded a double-double of 16 points and 10 assists to help Thomas improve to 9-5.
Jarrad DeVaughn paced the winners of Waterville with 19 points and Stanely Greene added 12.
Benjamin Russell paced 2-13 MMA with 11 points and Shawn Distie recorded eight points and 12 rebounds.

Endicott 62, UNE 48
At Biddeford, Erik Callo scored 14 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Endicott past the University of New England.
John Henault added 13 points for 11-4 Endicott.
Aelx Alsadi paced 1-13 UNE with nine points, 11 rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots. Jarryd Rossignol hit three 3-pointers and finished with nine points.

Emmanuel 69, St. Joe’s 67
At Standish, Emmanuel outrebounded St. Joseph’s 42-30 and scored 46 points in the paint to record the victory.
Isaiah Duke paced 6-9 Emmanuel with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Nicholas Jobin scored 22 points to lead 10-4 St. Joe’s, Matthew Medeiros added 14 and Chris Petzy put in 12. Clark Noonan had six rebounds and four points.

Women’s Hockey

Maine 1, UConn 1
At Alfond Arena in Orono, Connecticut goalie Nicole Paniccia made 37 saves and Maine’s Brittany Ott made 25 as the teams battled to an overtime tie.
Dominque Goutsis scored a second-period goal on assists from Jessica Hall and Myriam Croussette for 12-8-6 Maine.
Jocelyn Slattery equalized for 3-15-7 UConn at the 6:20 mark of the third period on assists from Kayla Campero and Emily Snodgrass.
Maine returns to action on Sunday at noon in Orono against Providence in the sixth annual Hockey East Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer event.

Women’s Basketball
Conn. College 71, Bates 56
At New London, Conn., Connecticut College hit 48 percent of its shots from the field (24 of 50) to improve to 13-2.
Jenn Shinall paced the winners with 22 points and Tara Gabelman put in 19.
Lauren Dobish scored 17 points to lead 7-9 Bates and Molly Brown added 13. Annie Burns chipped in with eight points and five assists.

Colby 60, Trinity 56
At Waterville, Rachael Mack finished with 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists as Colby held off Trinity.
Jil Vaughan added 12 points and eight rebounds for 12-2 Colby, Jacky McLaughlin netted 11 points and Aarika Ritchie had nine points.
Heather Lyhne scored 14 points to lead 6-8 Trinity.

Amherst 63, Bowdoin 59
At Brunswick, Amherst snapped a 29-29 halftime tie with an 11-2 scoring surge to start the second half to stay unbeaten at 16-0.
Caroline Stedman led the winners with 17 points, including her 1,000th career point.
Jill Henrikson led 11-4 Bowdoin with 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Kaitlin Donahoe chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds.

MMA 78, Thomas 45
At Castine, Sam Goda hit 9 of 14 shots for the floor and finished with 23 points to carry Maine Maritime Academy to victory.
Maggie Smith added 14 points 8-6 MMA and Bekah Campbell chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Courtney Dufour added 11 points while Leah Jackson recorded 10 rebounds and eight assists.
Karin Bird paced 2-13 Thomas with 16 points and five rebounds.
