WALLACE ‘SNAP’ M. RICHARDSON JR.

STEUBEN and HOLIDAY, Fla. – Wallace "Snap" M. Richardson, Jr., 82, formerly of Groton, Conn., passed away Jan. 9, 2012, at Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, Conn. He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Bar Harbor, son of the late Wallace M. Richardson Sr. and Anna (Joy) Richardson Leavitt.

He was married Nov. 30, 1952, in Seal Harbor, to the late Phyllis (Gordon) Richardson. She passed away Dec. 24, 2008. Snap served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded two Bronze Star medals, as well as a Good Conduct Medal after serving in Japan. After retiring in Connecticut as a master plumber he returned to Maine to spend his retirement pursuing his passion of lobster fishing on his boat the "Phyllis G." and spent his winters in Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a disabled veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Florida.

He is survived by his three daughters and their spouses, Kathy and Vinie Fasseas of South Daytona, Fla., Julie and Stephen Borkowski of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Wendy and Vern McLean of Groton, Conn.; his son, Mark Richardson of Oakdale, Conn.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be held in Maine later in the year and will be announced at that time. Any donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans or Alzheimer’s Association. William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, Conn., is in care of arrangements.
