CANAAN, Maine — Daniel Swain of Canaan announced that he will run as a Democratic candidate for the District 28 seat in the Maine House of Representatives in November’s election.
Swain, 24, graduated from the University of Maine at Machias in 2010 with degrees in history and public administration. He is now a direct support professional at Spurwink Services.
“Ever since I went to the State House on a fourth-grade trip I’ve been involved in politics and government, everything from simply watching the news to working on campaigns. That interest has now evolved to the point that I want to run for the Legislature to represent my hometown area,” he said in a press release.
District 28 encompasses Canaan, Cornville, Hartland, Palmyra and St. Albans. Republican Dean Cray now represents the district.
