A snowman on Route 1 in Steuben is trying his best to hitch a ride to colder climes just before noon on Friday, as rain began pelting him into oblivion. The hitcher was created after Thursday's wet snowfall by teenagers Aaron Stanwood and Tyler Norton. The snowman features a different face on either side of his head, smiling for drivers heading toward Ellsworth and frowning for those traveling toward Machias.
