PORTLAND, Maine — A Standish grandmother has pleaded not guilty to accusations that she is a serial arsonist responsible for several fires in Cumberland County.

Carol Field, who has been in custody since her arrest in September, was held on $100,000 bail after her arraignment Wednesday.

Authorities allege 66-year-old Field is responsible for setting at least 15 fires in Cumberland and York counties.

She faces arraignment in York County on Friday.

Although there have been no injuries, some of the fires have caused property damage, including about $200,000 in damage to the Raymond Hill Baptist Church last summer.

Field’s lawyer tells The Portland Press Herald that she maintains her innocence. He also says his client suffers from mental health issues.
