St. Joseph Healthcare displays local students’ artwork

BANGOR, Maine — Local schoolchildren’s art is on display in the St. Joseph Hospital Emergency Department as part of Art in the ED. The program was launched to help alleviate the fears of young hospital visitors and to recognize the talent of local children.

The St. Joseph Hospital Emergency Department treats hundreds of children every year. Coming to the hospital can be stressful and scary to youngsters, particularly in the event of an emergency. To help calm pediatric patients and create a colorful and inviting space, Art in the ED features student artwork on display in the pediatric waiting area.

The Helen S. Dunn School in Greenbush is the third school to participate in the new program. Students in first through eighth grade have shared their work to help make the pediatric waiting area more comfortable for their peers. Children and their families are welcome to stop by the Emergency Department at any time to view their work while it is on display.
