BRUNSWICK, Maine — A burglary overnight at Michele’s Consignment Shop on Union Street remained under investigation Wednesday, but police already have found a cash register reported stolen from the business.

Officers responded just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to the business at 40 Union St. to find the front door smashed out, Deputy Police Chief Marc Hagan said Wednesday.

A cash register that was taken during the incident later was found near the Central Fire Station on Town Hall Place.

The incident remains under investigation, Hagan said, and detectives have not yet determined what might have been taken from the business.
