BREWER and ORRINGTON – Celia R. (Norton) Foster, 102, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 26, 1909, in Pittsfield, the daughter of Lemuel and Elsie (Huff) Norton.
Celia was a 1929 graduate of Newport High School. She was a member of Second Congregational Church of Brewer for more than 53 years. Celia retired from W.T. Grant Co after 29 years and also worked for Zayre Department Store and Orrington school lunch program. She was a 4H Club and past Brownie leader, and past secretary of Orrington PTA. Celia was an honorary member of Orrington Garden Club and was a member of OES Milwee Chapter No. 198, Orrington. Celia was also treasurer of Brewer Senior Citizen Club for 22 years and vice president for two years. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, reading, and playing cards with her friends.
Celia is survived by three daughters, Joan Eaton Peters of Dexter, Linda Eaton Dulac and her husband, Stanford, of Ripley, and Deborah Tenney Bianchi and her husband, Daniel, of Newton, Mass.; four beloved grandchildren, Russell Dulac of Portland, Carmen Irish of Dexter, Brenda Trice and her husband, Joe, of Hampden, and Sheba Kelly of Medway, Mass.; 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Mary Ellen Lindsay and Carmie Tenney Shorey. In addition to her parents, Celia was predeceased by her husbands, John Eaton, George Tenney and Robert Foster; brother, LeRoy Norton; sister, Beatrice Praham; and grandson, Donald Wylie. Many thanks for the wonderful care she received from the staff at Stillwater Health Care and Beacon Hospice.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Brookings-Smith Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Richard Hyman, pastor of Second Congregational Church of Brewer, officiating. After the service relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Interment will be held in the spring at Marston Cemetery, Orrington.
