MIDDLETOWN, Conn., and MERIDEN, Conn. – Jeannette Marie Watson Terragna, 80, formerly of Meriden, Conn., and wife of the late Joseph E. Terragna, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Wadsworth Glen, Middletown, Conn., after a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 20, 1931, in Brewer, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Katherine G. Corey Watson.
She had resided in Meriden, Conn., for most of her life. She graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1950, and St. Luke’s School of Nursing, New Bedford, Mass., class of 1953, She later received a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph College, Windham, and a master’s degree in health administration from Quinnipiac University. She was employed as a nursing supervisor and head nurse at the former Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, was the director of nursing at the former World War II Veterans’ Memorial Hospital and later was the administrator at Wadsworth Glen, Middletown, Conn., and Gladeview Nursing Home, Old Saybrook, Conn. She was also a nursing consultant for Proctor & Gamble for a number of years.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Civali and her husband, Joseph, of Meriden, Conn., and Lynn Mozeliak and her husband, Leon, of New Hartford, N.Y.; two sons, Michael J. Terragna of Charlotte, N.C., and Terry J. Terragna of West Simsbury, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Joey Civali and his wife, Melissa, James Civali and his wife, Diana, Kathryn Corey Civali, Connor Terragna, Ryan Terragna, Jessica Mozeliak and Shannon Kern; two brothers, Jerry S. Watson of North Pole, Alaska, and Joseph H. Watson, Jr. of Falmouth, Mass.; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, MaryEllen Aiken of Florida.
Relative and friends are invited to call 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, Conn. Burial will be private.
