WALDOBORO, Maine — Local police arrested a father and son Thursday after an investigation into a December burglary.

Shawn Brewer, 29, and Kevin Brewer, 52, both of Waldoboro, were arrested after search warrants were executed at three homes on Thursday. Waldoboro and Damariscotta police, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, the Maine Warden Service and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency searched the homes of the men who were arrested and the Friendship Road home of a 75-year-old woman who was not charged in connection with the case.

The searches were part of an investigation into a burglary that occurred on Dec. 13. Authorities recovered stolen property connected to the Waldoboro burglary, as well as property connected to an unrelated incident in Damariscotta, according to a press release.

Shawn Brewer is charged with felony burglary and theft, misdemeanor drug possession and felony violation of conditions of release. Kevin Brewer is charged with misdemeanor drug possession but was not charged in connection with the burglary and theft.

As of noon Friday, Shawn Brewer was being held without bail at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. Kevin Brewer posted $2,000 unsecured bail and has been released, according to police.

“This case is currently still under investigation,” Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde said. “Additional charges and/or arrests are likely.”
