Presque Isle boy is first born in new year at Cary Medical Center

CARIBOU, Maine — Braedyn Lee Berry, son of Cassandra Malone and Brandon Berry of Presque Isle, was the first baby born at Cary Medical Center in the new year. The 9-pound, 13.6-ounce boy was born at 11:48 p.m. Jan. 1, 2012. Braedyn Lee Berry’s grandparents are Rick and Tracy Sanford of Houlton, and Darrell and Tina Malone of Oakfield. The hospital and Cary Medical Center Auxiliary presented the baby and parents with a handmade wooden chest and other gifts, including a handmade quilt donated by Crown of Maine Quilters. The chest, made by Conrad Caron of Caribou, had been raffled at an auxiliary fundraiser earlier this year. It was won and then donated for the New Year’s baby by auxiliary member Andrea Gallagher of Caribou.
