GARDINER, Maine — Police have arrested a local teenager who allegedly robbed a Rite Aid pharmacy on Monday.

Gardiner Police Chief James Toman said in an email to the Bangor Daily News that the 16-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was arrested without incident on Tuesday morning.

Toman said the teenager walked into the Rite Aid on Monday afternoon and demanded drugs. Police declined to say whether a weapon was involved.

The drugs the teen obtained in the robbery were on his person when he was arrested and were recovered, Toman said.

Pending a court appearance, the teen is being held at the Mountain View Youth Center in Charleston on a charge of robbery. He could face additional counts as police continue to investigate the incident.
