Juvenile held after New Year’s stabbing in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Police say a juvenile has been taken into custody in connection with a weekend stabbing in Brunswick.

Authorities received a report of a stabbing just after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Officers responding to a home on Gurnet Road found 44-year-old Scott Pelkey suffering from a stab wound. Pelkey was taken to Midcoast Hospital and later transferred to Maine Medical Center where he was in serious condition.

The juvenile suspect, whose name was not released due to age, has been taken to Long Creek Youth Center.
