Wow!  It was a tragedy any way you look at it but it’s doubly painful to lose such an altruistic community stalwart just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.  It really makes you ponder how precious each moment we have here is.  I hope all the grieving family and friends can learn to focus on their precious memories and not on opportunities lost–might make it a little less painful.

I would like to thank Nick McCrea for this informative and heartwarming article. Too often we are unaware of the ” personal side of the story”. Learning about the wonderful person Mr. Sturges was only adds to our sense of loss. I was also pleased to read the earlier article about the background of the two young brothers. A couple of great kids by my way of thinking.

My wife and I were on our way home to N.H. from a Christmas celebration in Central Maine within a half hour of the tragic accident, and witnessed three accidents within 15 minutes of traveling on the Maine Turnpike. Although the speed limit had been reduced to 45 MPH on the Turnpike, there were a few vehicles still whizzing by us at 65-70 MPH.

We lost our oldest son at the age of sixteen in a automobile accident, and can’t begin to imagine the pain of loosing both sons in this horrific accident.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of these four unfortunate men……………..
