Accident knocks out power to more than 750 in Old Town on Christmas morning

OLD TOWN, Maine — Power for more than 750 Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. customers was knocked out about 9 Christmas morning when a car struck a utility pole on Center Drive.

Power was restored to all 786 customers affected by the outage by 2 p.m.

Details about the accident were not available Sunday.

Streets affected included Stillwater Avenue, Center Street, Brunswick Street, Fourth Street, Jefferson Street and all others in the vicinity, according to information posted on the company’s website.

Power was restored by 10 a.m. to some locations on Stillwater Avenue. The lights came on at Old Town United Methodist Church just as the morning service began.
