Police: Woman abducted from Walmart parking lot in Augusta

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — A woman walking to her car after shopping at Walmart was abducted and forced to withdraw money from an ATM, police say.

The man showed a weapon, though police did not disclose what kind of weapon, and forced the 51-year-old victim to drive her own car to the ATM. Police did not say how much money he got away with.

Police say the man fled on foot after Tuesday night’s kidnapping and is still on the loose.

The man is described as white, in his early to mid-20s, and about 5 foot, 10 inches tall. He was wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt and a dark baseball cap with a white logo on the visor.

Police tell the Kennebec Journal the victim was not injured.
