Ellsworth business lighting up Christmas with donated trees

By Ardeana Hamlin, BDN Staff

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Steve Elliott, owner of New Land Nursery and Florist in Ellsworth, is partnering with the Downeast Family YMCA in Ellsworth to supply free Christmas trees to underprivileged families.

“We know there’s great need out there this holiday season,” said Elliott. “For some families, since a Christmas tree is a nonessential item, they are forgoing buying one. The DE Family YMCA is helping us to locate less fortunate families who could use a little holiday cheer with a donated Christmas tree. We hope that by donating some Maine-grown Christmas trees, we can help to put a little holly jolly back into somebody’s Christmas.”
