Charges pending against Bucksport driver in Bradley accident

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BRADLEY, Maine — One of the drivers involved in a head-on crash Wednesday that sent three people to the hospital will face charges, a Maine State Police trooper said Thursday.

The exact charges to be filed against Jennifer Woodman, 28, of Bucksport have yet to be determined but are expected to include failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle. There were other factors in the accident that also may lead to charges, Trooper Michael Johnston said.

The accident happened about 2:20 p.m. on Route 178, near the Milford town line, when the northbound Ford Explorer Woodman driven by Woodman crossed the centerline and went into the path of a southbound Nissan Xterra driven by Sally Cates, 50, of Bradley, the trooper said.

Both drivers as well as David Meierdirk, 37, of Bucksport, a passenger in Woodman’s vehicle, were hurt in the accident. They were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where they were treated and then released later that day, Johnston said.

Woodman’s 3-year-old daughter was not injured.
