AUGUSTA, Maine — Augusta police are investigating an alleged robbery at a Western Avenue motel early Monday morning.

Augusta police Lt. Chris Reid said officers responded to the Super 8 Motel around 1:30 a.m. after a man entered a room and struck another man on the head with a handgun.

According to Reid, the suspect displayed a gun, pushed the other man’s girlfriend against a wall and assaulted the male victim with the weapon. The suspect subsequently got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The woman was not injured, while the male suffered minor injuries, Reid said.

The man is described as white with a white hooded sweatshirt with red lettering and dark jeans. The case remains under investigation.
