SULLIVAN, Maine — Law enforcement agencies searched without success over the weekend for a Sullivan man missing for more than a week.

Wayne Hodgkins, 57, last was seen on the night of Dec. 3. On Friday, Maine Marine Patrol officers spotted Hodgkins’ red Ford Ranger truck during an aerial search in Gouldsboro.

The truck was parked on a side road off Route 186, however it was unclear how long it had been there, said Lt. Tim Cote with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, which is leading the search. A subsequent ground search by a Maine State Police K-9 unit that day was unsuccessful.

The search continued Saturday on the ground as well as from the air and on the water involving state and local police, game wardens, marine patrol officers and volunteers.

Cote said marine patrol officers searched from the air and the water on Monday and that another ground search was planned for Tuesday.

Hodgkins has brown hair, brown eyes, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He last was seen at at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Ellsworth on Dec. 3. A missing person flier posted by the Sheriff’s Department said Hodgkins had been depressed and was considered a potential threat to himself.

Anyone who may have seen Hodgkins since then or has information about him is asked to call the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department at 667-7575.
