ORONO, Maine — University of Maine police are releasing no details about a reported sex offense that was reported to campus law enforcement early Saturday morning, said Ron Lisnet, university spokesman.

“The investigation is ongoing so there is no information to release,” he said.

The crime was reported to campus police just before 4 a.m. Saturday. No one had been arrested as of 1 p.m. Saturday.

Whether the reported sex offense involved any UMaine students, whether it occurred on campus or whether anyone was hospitalized are questions Lisnet said he could not answer.

“The detectives are saying it’s way to early,” he said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
