SKOWHEGAN BOYS

Last year’s record, finish: 3-15, No. 13

Roster: Sr. Ethan Johnson, Sr. Levi Barnes, Sr. Jubal Horton, Sr. Aren LeBrun, Sr. Jeff Bolduc, Jr. Taylor Bacon, Jr. Chad Carroll, Jr. Trevor Hisler, Jr. Patrick Poirer, So. Brett Gilbert, So. Ben Salley, Fr. Eli Holland, Fr. DeQuen Frost, Fr. Dan Quirrion; coach: Dave Simpson

Outlook: We start off with a tough schedule: Mt. Blue (away), Hampden (home) and Bangor (away) and will be without starting center Bacon (6-5) who has a fractured ankle and Horton (6-1) with mononucleosis. We hope each of these players will be back before the first of the year. We will have four varsity players back from last year’s team ( Johnson, Barnes, LeBrun and Hisler). Carroll will be a great addition for us, transferring from Boothbay where he started last year. We may struggle early but I believe we will surprise a lot of teams in a strong KVAC league. We’re hoping to sneak into the playoffs with our eyes on playing in the Augusta Civic Center come February

BANGOR GIRLS

Outlook: I would expect to see an aggressive defensive style of play with an uptempo approach towards offense. We feel we can compete every night in an extremely competitive league. Our kids’ goals are high and a lot of individual work has been done to prepare for this season.

HAMPDEN ACADEMY GIRLS

Last year’s record, finish: 19-3, No. 3, won regional title

Roster: Sr. Ashley Danforth, Sr. Helene Sherburne, Sr. Logan Huston, Jr. Jordan Maxwell, Jr. Alex Winchester, Jr. Ellie Webb, Jr. Laura Marquis, Jr. Anna Michaud, Jr. Kayla Clewley, So. Casey Black, So. Elise Arsenault, So. Cassie Bean; coach: Chad Bradbury

Outlook: We have five returning players. Only three players have substantial varsity experience. We graduated seven seniors, all of whom contributed greatly to the team’s success. Seniors Danforth and Sherburne are both four-year varsity players and should have a great season. The league will be highly competitive again this year. Messalonskee will be very tough to beat in the North. In the South, Cony and Edward Little are strong. We’re looking to have a fun season and anxious to get going.

SKOWHEGAN GIRLS

Last year’s record, finish: 11-7, No. 9

Roster: Sr. Amanda Johnson, Sr. Megan Perkins, Sr. Kenny Richardson, Sr. Rhiannon LaPlante, Jr. Cheyenne Malloy, Jr. Adriana Martineau, Jr. Chelsey Whittemore, Jr. Natasha Thompson, Jr. Desiree Brochu, Jr. Mikayla Bolduc, So. Taylor Johnson, So. Andrea Quirion, So. Morgan Buker, So. Alanna Atkinson; coach: Heath Cowan
