WINTERPORT, Maine — A local man suffered from mild hypothermia Thursday night after he lost control of his car and rolled off the road into a few inches of water.

Brandon Pinkham, 28, of Winterport had been driving on Airport Road when he reportedly became distracted and rolled his vehicle, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

A neighbor called police at 10:19 p.m. to alert them of the accident, and a responding officer found Pinkham on foot, soaked from head to toe and about three-quarters of a mile away from his crashed car.

“He was in the early stages of hypothermia,” Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said Friday.

Pinkham was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment. The Winterport Ambulance service also responded to the emergency.

Trafton said no further information was available about the vehicle or accident.
