ELLSWORTH — A Bradley woman who police said was linked to a plan to trade guns for drugs with New York City gang members was among 25 people indicted this week by a grand jury in Hancock County.

Sarah J. Lemery, 28, and two men were arrested in July after a monthlong investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Undercover officers reportedly purchased cocaine from Lemery, Samuel Call and Jamel Slaughter of New York in the Old Town area.

At the time, MDEA officials said informants had told agents that Lemery and possibly others had been conspiring with gang members from New York City to trade crack cocaine for handguns. Police found cocaine and a single handgun in an Ellsworth cottage where Lemery and Slaughter reportedly had been staying.

Meeting on Thursday and Friday, a Hancock County grand jury indicted Lemery on one count of Class A aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, one count of Class B possession of scheduled drugs and two counts of criminal forfeiture. Neither Slaughter’s nor Call’s name appeared on the list of people indicted by the grand jury.
