Winthrop police seeking man who robbed Rite Aid on Wednesday

WINTHROP, Maine — Police are on the lookout for a suspect who robbed the Rite Aid store on Peck Farm Road in Winthrop late Wednesday afternoon.

The man entered the store just before 5:30 p.m. and handed an employee a note demanding drugs, police said in a news release.

The suspect threatened the employee with a weapon, although no weapon was shown, and the employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of drugs.

The suspect was captured on a surveillance camera, but it is unclear whether the culprit is a man or a woman. The suspect is of Asian decent, 5½ feet tall, 130 pounds, thin and in his or her early 20s.

The suspect was wearing dark pants, a black shirt and a white baseball cap and had white sunglasses. The robber also had blue gloves with white stripes on them and dark sneakers with a white logo on the side.

Anyone with information is asked to call Winthrop police at 377-7226. Authorities from Monmouth, the Maine State Police and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. printed on May 1, 2017
