Milford man allegedly flashes shotgun in road rage incident

BANGOR, Maine — A Milford man pulled out a shotgun after a teenage driver attempted to pass him on the right while driving north on Interstate 95 on Saturday, Maine State Police Trooper Brian Bean said Wednesday night.

“It’s a road rage incident,” the trooper said. “He stuck a shotgun out the window.”

Roger Harvey, 45, was charged with felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon at around 1 p.m.

The incident began near the Broadway exit of I-95 in Bangor and continued until the Stillwater Avenue exit in Old Town, Bean said.

A19-year-old Bangor man “attempted to pass the guy on the right because he wouldn’t pull over,” the trooper said. Harvey followed the young man to the Stillwater exit, then headed toward Milford, where he has a self-storage unit filled with weapons, according to Bean.

“He got rid of the shotgun at the self-storage unit,” Bean said. “He still had a firearm in the vehicle.”

When police caught up with Harvey — who had been charged with the same crime in 1984 — he admitted to flashing the shotgun, explaining that “he just got mad,” the trooper said.

Police took the shotgun from Harvey as evidence and he was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. His bail conditions included turning over all of his weapons, Bean said.

“He is going to have to turn those over to a relative or somebody,” the trooper said.
