ELLSWORTH, Maine — WNSX radio will hold the second annual Kitty Palooza free cat and kitten adoption event 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Maine Coast Mall in Ellsworth. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Hancock County and Forgotten Felines animal shelter will be on location with WNSX, 97.7 FM, in hopes of finding homes for as many as 70 orphaned cats and kittens.
“These are not strays. They are simply somebody’s cats who have lost their home for whatever sad reason,” said Natalie Knox, co-owner of WNSX. “We will never know the real story behind why these cats now find themselves orphaned in a shelter. However, with the help of many shelter volunteers, it is our goal to find them a safe and caring home where they will never be abandoned again.”
Last year’s first Kitty Palooza December adoption event found homes for 24 cats and kittens within four hours. The event’s goal is to secure homes for a minimum of 50 felines during the same time frame.
“The people who flooded the doors of Kitty Palooza last year were not there to browse. These folks wanted a cat,” said Knox.
