WATERVILLE, Maine — A woman who was transported to the hospital for minor injuries after being struck by a car wound up spending the night behind bars after she and her boyfriend tried to steal several items, police said.
Faith O’Connor, 37, of Waterville was taken Monday night to Maine General Medical Center after she was hit by a car on Main Street, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.
Her boyfriend, Griffin Ringle, 21, was with O’Connor when she was hit, Rumsey said, but he was not injured and accompanied her to the hospital.
While at the hospital, the pair tried to conceal numerous items, including bandages, tape, a flashlight and peroxide, and hospital staff subsequently called police, Rumsey said.
Waterville police Officer Robert Bouley responded to the scene and arrested O’Connor and Ringle after they returned the items from their backpack. Both suspects were charged with theft.
