Hanley helps Bowdoin men roll by Maine Maritime Academy

CASTINE, Maine — Will Hanley scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bowdoin College Polar Bears to a 72-44 men’s basketball victory over the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners on Monday night.

Bowdoin opened with a 20-2 scoring run and cruised to the victory, improving to 5-2.

Wyatt Littles chipped in with 12 points for Bowdoin and Keegan Pieri had nine rebounds.

Brandon Theriault paced 1-5 MMA with 13 points and Shawn Dostie chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Pineo added nine points and Benjamin Russell had three assists.

Bates 69, Emerson 65 (OT)

At Boston, Luke Matarazzo scored five of the Bobcats’ points in overtime to lift them to victory over the Lions.

Former Camden Hills and Hampden Academy standout Graham Safford paced 3-2 Bates College of Lewiston with 18 points and Ed Bogdanovich netted 17. Matarazzo added 11 points.

Nathan Firn tossed in a game-high 23 points and Bilali Kalilou-Mach scored 21 for 1-6 Emerson.
