BANGOR, Maine — Police went to a Kenduskeag Street apartment to assist with a medical call on Saturday and found a wanted man, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.

Police had information about “possible bath salts activity” at the apartment and while assisting the ambulance crew, Officer Brian Smith found Craig Pelkey, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, in a back bedroom and arrested him, the sergeant said.

Smith also reportedly found drug paraphernalia and the synthetic drug bath salts and charged Pelkey with unlawful possession of synthetic drugs.

He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and later released.
