Outlook: This year’s squad will have some growing to do as the season progresses. We have an athletic group of boys that will need to work hard to gel on both the offensive and defensive ends. The two returning starters from last years squad, three-year starting guard Dereck Dufour and 6-1 forward Brandon Clark, will be vital contributors and key in helping bring us together defensively and offensively. Other key contributors from last year’s team returning are athletic big man Andrew Lewis and versatile swingman Legeorge Williams and guard Austin Bernier, who showed an ability to hit some big threes in our prelim and quarterfinal games last year. Everyone else will battle for playing time as we work to become a ball pressure team with a deep rotation. In the post 6-3 Andrew Tuck, 6-3 Nate Guimond, 6-3 Landon Towle, 6-1 Travis Emerson, and 5-11 Hunter Beaulieu will vie for playing time to spell Clark and Lewis. 6-1 Logan Craig, 6-0 long-range shooter Noah Bernard, and 5-10 Watson will be in the mix to spell Bernier and Dufour. The success of this year’s team is going to depend on the boys’ ability to create defensive pressure and grow as a unit.

HODGDON HAWKS

Last year’s record, finish: 5-13, 17th in Class C

Roster: Sr. Quinn Harris, Sr. Erik Ryan, Sr. Craig Lincoln, Sr. Connor Murphy, Sr. George Currier-Peters, Sr. Arno Wirta, Jr. Josh Hudson, Jr. Matt Harmon, Jr. Devon Logie, Jr. Nick Lunn, So. Tyler Sherman, Fr. Keegan Gardner, Fr. Chris Hudson, Fr. Devin Quint; coach: Robert Smith

Outlook: This year Nick Lunn, Tyler Sherman, Devon Logie, and Josh Hudson return. The fifth starter is still to be determined. This year there will be four or five guys that can come off the bench and produce. This year the Hawks will look to improve on their defense by working in man-to-man while also falling back on some other defensive sets that we have run in the past. This year’s team will consist of six seniors, four juniors, one sophomore and three freshmen. We will still be a young team, but many of our upperclassmen saw significant time on the varsity floor last year. With a wide variety of classes that make up our team, we will have to come together as one to see the team succeed as we transition from Class C to D. Experience always plays a big factor as the season goes along. This year’s team will have already been a part of some big games, unlike last year’s team which saw many players seeing their first big minutes as a part of the varsity team. We will take this season like any other season, one day at a time.

KATAHDIN COUGARS

Outlook: Our immediate goal is a return to the Bangor Auditorium for a chance to compete for our division title. Class D East this year is a very large and competitive division and each game is an opportunity for us to grow and mature as a team over the season with the ultimate goal of peaking when the playoffs arrive.

LIMESTONE CS/MSSM Eagles

Last year’s record, finish: 0-18, No. 20

Roster: Jr. Nate Tucker, Jr. Chris Paradis, Jr. Brandon Thompson, Jr. Bret Butler, So. Tristan Kirk, Sr. Zach Cote, Sr. Austin Dow-Smith, Sr. John Massey, So. Chris Bernier, Patrick Masaad, Fr. Dylan Nadeau, So. Taylor Butler, Jr. Cody Bryant, Jr; coach: Jon Hamilton

Outlook: One of our goals this year is to prove to everyone that we are not a 0-18 team. This year the team is more experienced and has matured tremendously from the previous year. We have added players that did not play last year due to other commitments who are upperclassmen. Not only do we have outside shooters, we have size underneath the hoop. We are going to focus on one game at a time. If we stay positive and work together, I feel we can make a run for playoffs.
